speed governor

i have a 98 cobra and was wondering if it has a factory speed governor and what it might be. also, if it does have one would i be able to take it to a shop and have the computer reprogramed to get rid of it or do i have to buy a programmer?

I would have to agree, a mod should move this.

That being said, I believe (as in, Don't know exactly) that 94-04 GTs and Cobras had no governer...

Not true. Some models (I'm not sure if all) are governed. You will need a tuner to remove it. Unless you can find a dealer willing to do it for you.

I thought that 99 -04 gt's with 17inch rims did not have a gover those with the 16's did have a gover at 120..but i know on those a programmer can raise that by selecting the rating of your tires..z rated highest my programmer said z rated and top speed of 255 like i would ever see that..lol
