idle question
Hi. when my car is sitting at idle about 65% of the time it sounds and shakes like it has a cams, which it doesn't, kinda like it is idleing too low but the idle rpm is right, anyone know what it could be? it's a 96 gt 90K auto. stock engine. thanks for all help.

RE: idle question
If your car sees a lot of short trips or many start up-shut down cycles,it might be the injectors need cleaned.Every time you shut down your engine a little gas remains on the tip of the injector. This drop of gasoline dries there and leaves behind a small deposit of varnish.Eventually this builds up enough to impede the atomization of the fuel on it's way to the combustion chamber.
You can run an injector cleaner through the engine BUT you must give it time to work.Just dumping some in the gas tank ain't going to work.Get some Seafoam (Advance,Autozone, and Napa) and mix it with about 1/4 tank of gas.Drive the car for a couple of hours to give it time to dissolve some of the deposits on the injectors. The process isn't finished yet,but you should at least notice a difference. You can also remove the injectors and let them soak in carb cleaner to loosen the deposits.Mustang Enthusiast also had an article late last year about checking injectors that had a lot of very good (and a lot more detailed) information.Sorry I don't know which month.
