Yep. When you switch gears the load on your transmission is no longer 1:1 in 4th, its just a little off. I went over that with the guy who dynoed my car.
Not true, 4th gear is still 1:1 for ratio at the transmission, your rear ratio was 3.23(? not sure exactly, you know what I mean) before the swap, and it is 4.10 after. The driveshaft spins at the same speed per RPM and gear before and after the gear swap, just the wheels will spin at a different speed.

well i put my car on the dyno tonight and i put down 238 to the wheels....with very few mods.....4.10 gears, diablo programmer, c&l plenum 75mm-no aftermarket throttle body kit, and i got flowmaster and gutted cats....
pretty good numbers

shouldnt you be making better numbers?
maybe those gutted cats are robbing power
you should get a mid pipe to replace those gutted cats

Everything that I have been told is that when you change your final drive you slightly alter the intended load on your entire drive train at a specific rpm.. its not a huge load change, but it makes it no longer a perfect 1:1.

Hehe, wouldnt be the first time I wasnt right though. I'm not a newb, but definatly not nearly as experienced as a lot of the guys on this board.. definatly correct me if I am wrong though [&:]
