Default T45 Tranny Trouble

when i went to go pickup the car they called the mechanic cause he wasnt in... All i got was he said its definately not a T5 ( he had called my dad and said that it was a T5 or something so i knew it was SUPPOSED to be a T45 so i wanted to check and see what he was talkign about)..wow...anyways its making not good noises when u push the clutch in and let it out, like almost let it die, it makes a couple of low thumping/clanging noises thats hard to describe. He said there is a slight problem witht he 2nd gear synchro. But besides that he dont kno wuts wrong without opening it up and I should keep driving with it untill it gets worse and then coem back...uh...what u guys think i should do? get someone to rebuild it and fix wuts wrong, or buy a new tranny? and if so which tranny shud i get?

the stock tranny in a 98 GT is a T-45, which is basically just a beefed up version of the T-5. And I would get it properly diagnosed if at all possible. Driving around on a vehicle with a growing problem usually isnt a good idea.

thats exactly how I feel, but you cant tell EVERYTHING that wrong untill it is opened up and rebuilt. Its either I do that, or I buy a new trans, the 3650 is supposed to fit quite nicely right?
