Spark plug question:
Right, stay away from Bosch. For whatever reason people seem to complain about them in all the forums. I thought standard gap was around .54-.56. I know you usually go .02 to .03 tighter to compensate for electrode distortion but .44 seems way too tight. Check out these sites for some interesting reading: www.e3sparkplugs.com/techoverview.asp and www.zex.com
Don't run the Bosch they hood the spark with our heads and have caused CEL lights in the past and a most people have complained about hte car feeling suluggish.
Oh if you do chose to run them.
You don't gap them. They are gapped from the factory.

I swapped the .44 (which for what ever reason is what autozone showed for my car) for .54 regluar platinum bosch since thats all they had in stock in that size besides autolite. The old plugs were terrible.. they were bosh platinum 2 plugs and the platinum was soo far off between each plug it wasnt funny. I think only 2 of the 8 plugs were even close to the same. My idle is smoother now. I think that probably solved my issue I was having at they dyno.
What plugs do you guys reccomend? The plugs I put in seem fine, definatly better then what was in there before, but I might change next time I change my oil. I have never had a problem with bosch on my truck or other cars, atleast it never threw a code due to them.
For what ever reason i read Bosch +4 in the post.... Don't see it now.
The +4 are the ones you are not supposed to gap and they hood the spark and cause poor performance in our cars.
I run Denso Iridiums and many others run NGK Iriduims, A copper plug is also a good plug just require frequent changes. Platnum is a long life plug but hindrs performance where the other two listed plugs do not.

Me got question. How often are you supposed to change your spark plugs? I've put about 12,000 miles on the car since I've had it and it has just over 74000 miles on it now and I havent changed the plugs at all.
Unless you have very high mileage rated platinum, iridium or similar type plug installed, no more than 30,000 miles between plug changes. Conventional plugs can begin to wear after only 7,500 to 10,000 miles....or less! Why do you think they change the spark plugs for EVERY race at the track. If you are a serious big HP dragster type, you will probably change your plugs after EACH quarter mile run! Bottom line: NEW PLUGS PERFORM BEST! If you run conventional style plugs, changing them each year is not out of the question. Afterall, standard plugs are cheap.
I have on order a set of E3's: www.e3sparkplugs.com/techoverview.asp These plugs have been thoroughly tested for over 7 years and have many backed-up unique claims. Read the whole article to get further insight. The E3 people installed free plugs on Cobras at the track and they all then ran their best times ever! If anyone is interested, JC Whitney carries these plugs for the Mustang for $8.99 each. I found out recently that Advanced Auto Parts now carries them for only $6.99 each. Good deal. I'll probably make the switch this spring. Take care people!
PS: Received my E3 plugs today and they carry a 100,000 mile or 5 year warranty!
