ok put it this way...you get what you pay for. Do not get anything off ebay, you can get better quality. If you have a manual i would advise you get a short shifter. Next get a good intake. After that get a plenum and 70mm throttle body. At the ame time look at getting some rims and tires. After that get some Eibach sportline springs, and a caster camber kit. Then get some pullies and then get the tuner. You don't want a tuner yet because all you will be doing is wasting money on gas that you don't need yet. There is a lot that you can do with mustangs, it just really depends on what you make and how much you wanna spend. Do you have any other questions
any brand names to look into? I know some of these items could be made by some cheap companies..

30hp from a hand held tuner? I don't think so. Stangc83, where did you get that 30hp from?

I had two different chips on my former v-6 mustang and I could not tell the difference.

Put a 4.10 rearend gear in it. That will make it much quicker. Would cost about 500 bucks installed.

I recommend the Diablosport tuner. I've heard its much better than SCT-Xcal2
SCT has 2-step and diablosport doesnt have that. SCT for the win !!!

Can/Do the folks running the dynos work with your hand-held tuners, or do they tune with their own computers? I'd like to know more about this.

If you go to a dyno shop with a custom tuner (the one I go to has an SCT and a Diablo guy, you just gotta schedule an appt with them), they can dyno tune your car. They have a laptop loaded with software to create the tune, and the play around and tweak settings between each run. You make a run with your stock tune, then they load the tune into the car with the tuner and you make another pass. They make any minor changes between run 2 and three then load the final program in and do the final run. Usualy it only takes 3 passes, sometimes more if you have a ton more mods or if your having timing/ a/f issues.

The only reason to get a chip is if you want to have multiple selectable tunes. Like a nitrous tune/ non nitrous tune or something like code3's dual stage tune and a regular tune that you want to be able to switch between with ease. Otherwise just get a tuner.
