Default 5.4 swap.....?????????

Ok so I dont even know why.....but I was wondering if I could cut the motor mounts off a aftermarket k member and move them stright down a few inches? Would this allow clearance for a 5.4 in a 97 mustang? (using a factory hood)Also can I still use my long tube headers off my 4.6.....I was told they would not fit unless I trimed down .5" near the flanges. They are ceramic coated so I cant bring myself to cut them, there so pretty.

it will bring the oil pan to close to the ground. and the oil pan actually wont even fit if you do that. there is some addapters so you can use a 4.6 intake manifold on a 5.4 theye are like $350

The actual motor mounts bolt to the engine? If you're talking about the slot that it fits into on the kmember... i definatly wouldnt **** with that. I know its aftermarket, however i belive all the kmembers are on an angle like this \-engine-/ if you drop the mounts on the kmember down, the motor will not drop down and fit into the holes because the distance between the mounts has shortened.

I would cut the whole member in half and drop it down like 2 inches. So I cut it like this \ /
cut.............
lengthen \_/ <---------drop k-member.
I would have to cut it above the mount brackets so they could stay at the same angle. If I did this and used a 4.6 intake w/adapters, could it fit under a stock hood?
Also could I reuse my 4.6 long tubes with out cutting on them?
And lastly can my 4.6 computer run the 5.4?
So like I would just be using a 5.4 long block. Man to bad know one makes a stroker kit for the 5.4L I would drop my NON PI project like a fresh pile of SH@#!

I'm almost positive that wont work, you would pretty much just have to fabricate you're own custom K-member. If you cut what you say the mounting brackets to the frame will be off; not the ones in the spring perch but the 4 bolts on the backside.

Even if you somehow manged to get it work and be safe... the frontside of the oil pan can only be dropped about 1/2 inch before it would be resting on the kmember. Why dont you just buy another hood they are like 400$. For all the pain and suffereing you will go through to do this (even though i dont think it can be done) you could just have a new hood.
