Default Q's about engint swap

I am looking at buying a 97 cobra that has had an engine swap with a rebuilt 95' cobra. I was told that the 97 computer wouldn't work with the new engine but the owner says he hasn't had any problems with it. So i am looking for some advice!! thanks

well here in CA that is not Smog legal you cant put a older motor in a newer car. and that would be really stupid to put a 5.0 inplace of a DOHC 4.6. there would need to be ALOT of changes. eveything would be diffrent from the wiring to the trany. it would be much cheaper buying a 95 and putting cobra braks and what not on it
