Default RE: "Professional courtesy??"

Professional courtesy is given because the person is in a certian profession, a mechanic may fix anothers for a reduced price or free, doctors will treat other doctors and so on. I have found that in the south though. Officers relish the fact that they gave another officer from another jurisdiction a ticket or worse. Go up north and flash your badge on a car stop and it's totally different. 9 out of 10 times you will get a break. Have a relative? If they show the union card or Police officers wife, husband, etc. PC is extended, unless of course you are drunk, involved in an injury accident or commit a crime. Heck in NY PC is even given to the newspaper delivery drivers and they will usually on their routes pass you an extra paper. In the south though, forget it. Every one wants to make a point. Give an officer a ticket and then what? In court you have two LEO's going up against each other. Yes we are all human and make stupid discisions and mistakes sometimes, that goes for LEO's and non- LEOs. Be nice and courteous on a traffic stop and you will probably get a break on a traffic stop. As Code 3 said the traffic citation depends on the demeanor of the driver stopped. Unless it's a serious offense.

LEOS drive fast cars ,,,,, yes,,,,, do we see if the car will top out at,,,,,yes.and of course we know that it is wrong. There is an agency I know of that the #1 officer has said that if the person stopped was speeding to work and is not reckless then cut them a break, because how many times were you going to be late for shift or court and sped.
