"Professional courtesy??"
Anyone that ever used that line on me when I pulled them over, automatically got a ticket. My response was always, "professional courtesy means being professional and courteous enough, not to put me in this position".
That does not work in the South. If you want professional courtesy you do not ask for it...you find an INDIRECT and RESPECTFUL way to let the officer know that you are either a cop or you have a family member who is. You more than likely having a family member will not help...but that is down here...not sure how things are in other parts of the country. I always carry my service weapon concealed...which is a really easy way to let other officers know you are a cop. ---get stopped, officer approaches my car, I tell officer I have a concealed weapon, officer asks if I have a permit, I say no, tell him that I am an off-duty officer...usually works. I have only been stopped 3 or 4 times in the 10 years I have been a cop...mostly for minor speeding, nothing careless or wreckless. Most of the time if you get caught driving wild and crazy, being a cop will not help.

Yea don't do that sneaky talking business. I got one for you though and it works. DONT DRIVE AWAY! LOL j/k.
Seriously this is a Courteous way to address a cop when being pulled over and I have heard that 1: This reassures the cop you are obviously not going anywhere and you are not anxious, and 2: That you either know a cop, contribute, etc.
Heres the deal:
1. After stopped role down both windows.
2. Put every light on the inside of the car ON
3. Turn the car off and take the keys out of the ignition and put them on the dash borad in the corner of the windshield to the left.
I have been told from cops in my town that this is an insider trick, and that it is obviously respectful and lets them know your obviously not going anywhere and willing to cooperate.

They're not going to ask for a name... lol.
Its a substitute for "Professional Courtesy" - Without the talking. Its a sign of repsect. Thats how you get off by respecting them, not talking your sweet *** out of it. Hell sometimes it works, but only if your lucky. And it will never work if you say crap like Professional Courtesy like Code said it wouldn't, lol.
