staging is where you smoke your tires for a decent amount of time to get them hot and sticky. This then makes for better grip on your launch.

My brother in law told me that when he had his fox body he did that at a track at union grove (near wisconsin) and they had oil/water on that section for a nice smoke show.

you turn of od when racing b/c if your car is at wide open throttle and shifts into o/d itll mess up your tranny

Wrong.. Staging is where you come up to the lights and the 1st yellow lights up.
