we are going to install some headers on my buddies 01 Cobra. We heard its a real PITA having to drop the K member or pull the motor. I was wondering if there were any writeups for this install. I did a search for Cobra header install and couldn't find anything. Any tips or links would be much appreciated!!

Thanks blackbetty! You would have thought that those came in the box, but nopers. If anyone has any tips or tricks or things to watch out for Please chime in!

 

6 spd take a look at my post about a '98 GT header install. I outline the tools needed (I'm putting BBK shorties on my '04 GT) I have manifolds off and I'm waiting for parts.

No problem, and welcome to Mustang Forums.

 

its easier to put them on with the motor out. but its gonan take longer. depends on how cold it i s outside. if its freezing you might wanna pull the motor cuz you will hit your knuckles alot installing the headers with the engine in the car

 

Thanks guys. I skimmed through your post Mach but figured it was a bit different with the GT than the Cobra. Why are you going with shorties? emissions?
