Default Fuel door help

Hope Iam posting this in the right area,

I am purchasing a 2001 Bullit GT and the the Bullit had an aluminum fuel door, the one on the Mustang I am buying is a little rusted and i want to know where I could get a new one.

Isnt there a way to clean the rust off the alum.??? There has to be, i just got one on ebay for $78 shipped.

Aluminum doesn't really rust though...it's reactive and oxidizes immediately when in contact with air, but it doesn't really change the appearance. It could be dirt in the grain of the metal, but a pic would help.

I believe it is the screws that are rusting. This is a known flaw with the Bullitt. Once you put the new Fuel Filler door on, you need to protect it with a metal polish to keep the problem from reoccuring. BTW, as a Bullitt owner you should check out the following sites:IMBOC, and The Bullitt Archive.

Just clean it, and swap the screws out for stainless ones. No need to buy a new one...
