In the 4/22/02 MM&FF magazine they tested this on the dyno and gained 4.6hp and lost 2.6ftlbs for the peak numbers
For the average numbers they gained 1.8hp and gained 3.5ftlbs

It's not a mod you are going to feel, but it is free HP

It doesn't really help much with power/torque, but it will DEFINITELY breath better. Look at the opening of then end of that funnel then look at the hole in the stock air box. With it on, it's like running a maraton with only breathing from a pucker. Those things starve the V8s for air.

I didn't even know this when I did it...I did it because my friends brother had an 03 GT and removed it and it sounded cool. So I removed mine when I got my GT and threw in a K&N filter. lol

For the price of a k&n replacement filter you can get a full cold air kit from ebay, made in china. I baught one and the quality is great...very happy with the kit. It also makes your engine compartment look much better.

I live in California...and ebay kits are not CARB legal. Therefore, they aren't going on my car.

There isn't much difference between stock intake w/ k&n and silencer removed and full aftermarket intake as far as my butt dyno is concerned. For $45 shipped i just had to get the full intake though.

+1 There is a big size difference in the two ends of the silencer!
