Nice run down the strip for the first time. Avg times for 99-04 GT's with 5spd are between 14.1-14.3, so your doing pretty good for yourself, but get that 60' down to about 2.0x or so, and you might hit 13's. Good luck

I pull those times consistantly. Right now I have a catback and a catted X on because of inspection and also a short throw. I do have all season tires though with probably the hardest rubber compound in the world. Its near impossilbe for me to pull anything lower than a 2.2 60', as all they do off the line is spin like crazy.

Anyways, good times for your first time out. My first time out i pulled a 14.5 bone stock, and it was about 45 degrees out.

Thats amazing getting a 1.51 concidering I saw the back end sway out and spin a good bit. Have you ever done a full hook launch without having the rear break loose?

It all depends on your set-up. When I was at Firebird Raceway in Phoenix I was launching around 2,500 RPMs in a drop/feather style with the clutch. I was still burning a bit on the bald Falkens I had but any higher or lower of a drop was killing my times due to either too much spin or bog respectively. Now that I have some healthy General Exclaim UHPs and some full length sub-frame connectors I bet I will do better at the 2,500 RPM drop or I may even get to bump it up a little higher without too much spin. Try different RPMs to launch at for your optimal time.

Feathering the clutch is a racey way to say riding the clutch. You don't want to fully engage it out of a drop or you will just burn the tires, its hard to expalin but I guess you just do a slight drop, and ride the clutch half way in or so until you get going enough for the tires to hook up. Sure its bad on the pressure plate and disk and all, but you gotta pay to play and if you want to do a nice launch at the strip its almost a "have to do".

You dont really need to burnout on street tires to get them track preped. A small scuff to loosen the gravel and dirt on them will do fine, otherwise you'll just be wasting valuable road tread. Avoid the water box, drive around it, do a small clutch pop burn-out and then stage.

that's what I was thinking, I was expecting the wheels up in the air.Mitch what did you car run on that pass? BTW a 1.3 would be sick as hell. Here's what a 1.1 looks like when it's powered by batteries. http://www.killacycle.com/

That pass was an 11.44. The car nosed over after the 1/8. My 1/8 miles was a 7.2@99mph
