Do you Double Clutch???
It has nothing to do with fast and the furious! I was told by someone that you can get more life out of your clutch and transmission by double clutching. i never did it before and was just wondering how many do. its more of a pain in the *** to do it.
You would get more life out of your transmission by double clutching to save the synchros. But it takes so much more effort and it is utterly useless in any racing other than road racing, and even then, its better to Rev match while the clutch is in anyway. And since a transmission will last anywhere from 80 to 100+ thousand miles, its really not too big a deal. $1,800 over 100,000 miles at 1,200 miles a year is like what? 1.8 cents a mile, and 18 cents a month. Who cares.
I can't believe how silly this thread is....And how silly some of the posts are saying the reasons it needs to be done.
You don't have to double clutch as the gears are syncronized. Years ago the manual gearboxes weren't syncronized thus the need to double clutch. I can bet there are very few, if any in this thread who are advocating the need have ever drove a vehicle this needed to be done.
