Default Does age matter?

I got a question for you mustang fans. Does age matter when you walk into a performance shop? what i mean is, do they rape you for cash because you appearyoung?..........I inquired about having my stock 2V rebuilt with forged internals, and they quoted me around $6000 parts and labor. people tell me it should be around $3000, maybe $4K at worst......wtf

well it depends on where you live and you should never just stick to one shop if you can't think of any around you google it or yahoo it for around your area, you'll be surprised, I didn't even know there was a tranny shop down the street from my house.

if you are talking long block (ie ported heads/cams) then that's about right. If you are talking what I just mentioned plus TOTAL labor, removal and install of motor then that sounds like a good price.

Non-Mustang specific shops tend to rape you on engine builds, especially when machine work is involved. Plus if they are doing the install then they jack up the labor hours because honestly, there is some significant labor involved in pulling a motor and putting a new one back in.
