Then would you mind explaining backpressure to me? I guess i honestly dont have my facts straight on this.
My exhause is longtubes, offroad X, and i had the slp lm1s for awile. That would be about as no 'backpressure' as you could get and it ran/runs like a monster.
So what exactly would be classified as 'not enough' backpressure?

Doesnt matter how long people have been here, the bottom line is, if they are giving out false information, you are allowed to correct them. And yes, backpressure plays ENOUGH of arole to consider it in your exhaust setup. Just because people have been here longer doesnt mean you can assume they're right...

Um..... Being as you are a noobie i wouldnt make a habbit of going around making fun of long time respected members
And there really is no such thing as backpressure............ At least not to an extent that anyone needs to worry about it....

Well according to 2000GT4.6, there is no such thing as backpressure....hahaha I know, I laughed when I read it too. You will have plenty of backpressure as long as you have mufflers. I had a 20 min conversation with the headmechanic of 59 Kingsford car (Nascar) about backpressure today. He said the best thing to do if you want it loud and to keep your performance is to eliminate the cats and keep the mufflers.

Think it'll have not enough backpressure?

Back on topic.... lol..
Your car will be awfully loud. But as long as the sound is a good sound, is there really such thing as too loud?
Just as a warning, say good bye to quiet conversations around 2K and beyond. And IF you were able to sneak in before hand w/o waking up anyong, go ahead and forget about that as well.

by the way how is fixing your heads going
Yeah I dont like SLP. Sorry guys but i dont believe on putting Chevy stuff on Fords. When i had my Chevy truck the best mod i ever did was motor craft plugs lol
. I think that might be a little loud. Does anyone have Borla chambered mufflers?

If you have lopy cams now and you switch to a straight through muffler you will be regretting it. Since chambered mufflers work by sound cancellation instead of sound deadening they have a much different sound with cams(and even without). Every cammed stang I've heard with straight throughs sounds loud and like crap.
As to the back pressure debate, the answer is kinda yes and no that you need it. Anyone that says back pressure is really using the wrong terminology and should be using exhaust velocity and restriction. You don't want any "back pressure," but you do want an appropriately sized exhaust for the right flow and velocity. Someone explained it one time as having two straws...one had a 1" opening and the other has a 4" opening that you can barely put your mouth around...Try and blow through both and see how much harder it is to get air flowing through the 4" than it is the 1".
It is the difference between turbulent and laminar flow. Changing the diameter of the pipes and what kind of restrictions you have in your exhaust ex. mufflers, cats, plays a role in how much turbulent flow you have in your exhaust. The goal is to try and get the least turbulent flow of air. Different combinations of exhuast systems can change how all this works. Mix and match. I suppose you could calculate it if you want.
