dimmer switch?
I just installed a new cd player and when i went to drive it the other day the instrument cluster and climate controls did not light up. Checked fuses and fuse 37(adjustable illumination) was blown. Replaced it and blew right away. Is there any certain place to look or just look for a burnt wire going to the headlight switch? ive checked the radio again and it all seems wired right. its a 00gt vert if it matters
well if it started happening after your cd player install i would pop the dash back off and start double checking connections. also try disconnecting the dimmer line for the new deck, perhaps its pulling too much power causing the fuse to blow. you dont even need to connect the dimmer wire anyways itll work fine without it, the radio wont dim with your dash lights tho (ionno bout u but ive never even dimmed my interior lights)
The dimmer rheostat's output passes through a 5A fuse, and then on to all the lamps that get dimmed--the wiresfeeding all these lamps (including the OEM radio)are light blue/red. If this wire got shorted when the new head unit was installed, that fuse would go poof as soon as the lights go on...
What connection at the radio is the blue/red wire going to? Most newer Jap radios have a yellow wire that should be connected to a always hot +12V source for the clock/memory, and a red wire that is the main power thatshould be connected to an ignition switched +12V source. The blue/red wire from the car's dimmer should not be connected to anything--unless the radio has a pink/white (usually) wire.
