Damp Rid id the BEST thing to keep the moisture out. It draws about 6 ounces of water every couple days out my car.

What is the point of changing your oil right before you put it away and then again when you bring it out in the spring? I know back in the day it was recommended that oil be changed every X,XXX miles OR 3 months...but with newer oils I dont think there is a time limit on them, especially if they havent been run thru the engine is there? I know for my bike I run semi synthetic and was told by the dealer that it only needs to be changed based on mileage because the synthetics dont break down.

I wouldnt change the oil before and after, you are just wasting your money. I would however disconnect the battery, maybe add some stabil. And try to find some pads to park on, or just move your car occasionally.

Its not a matter of starting. If you don't have your tank full of Gas bare metal will be exposed where the fuel isn't and it will form rust.
I also use the damp rid stuff (Lowes or Home Depot) Also put some dryer sheets in the interior they same it keeps kritters away. I park my car on plastic mats that are under the entire car that way there is a barrier between under the car and the cement because condensation will form on the under side and make exposed parts rust[:@]

Just a thought, but why not drain the oil for the storage. Just be sure to put a warning sign in the car not to start it next season as a reminder!

The reason to have a full tank of gas is to minimize the amount of condensation water buildup in the tank as things change temperature. The same goes for the crankcase. You'll end up with some water inthe oil when you let it sit very long.

If you were to drain the oil now and then pull the drain plug again to make sure there's no water in there before filling it again in spring, you'd be golden! There's no need to have oil sitting in the pan all winter. Everything's coated thinly anyway. If you wanted more protetion you could always run some STP in there to really coat everything for storage and prevent rust/corrosion.

Just some thoughts!
