the pi heads will not flow that much more than the NPI heads on blown applications. if your goin to do a cam now, id say wait on the heads. that right there will hit 500rwhp, but just remember the closer you get to 500, the more youll need to upgrade your fuel system. If you want 500rwhp, id say cobra fuel tank, dual cobra pumps, KB Boost a pump, 42# injectors and so on.

if your goin to do the bottom end it would ultimately be cheaper just to buy a shortblock. mmr has the 600 or 900 shortblock setup for under 3k!
if your deadset on just forging the internals i would say try this:
manleypiston 9:1 compression (when you do heads stage 2 heads it drops the compression down 3/10 or so...so youd see 8:7 or so...so ifyou go any lower it would be a dog down low)
manley rods
cobra crank
mph custom blower cam
cam springs
either DIY intercooler or paxton air to air
Hooker headers
BBK shorty midpipe
THR hardballer intake
High volume oil pump

well looks like your car will never run again because if you push that kind of power on that set up your motor will not last so its up to you either pay someone, learn how to do it or blow your car up not trying to be a dick just letting you know how it is
Good advice, ok so the new list:

1.Manley Piston/Manley Forged Rod R/A - 11cc dish
2. PIHeads
3. VT Stage II blower cams - or - Custom Grind about equal to <--
4. P-51 Fox Lake intake w/ fuel rails
5. Accufab 75mm TB
6. SLP LT headers
7. SLP catted X-pipe
8. VORTEC SUPERCHARGER V-2 SQ
9. High-Performance Mustang Builder's Guide by Sean Hyland
10. How to Build Max-Performance 4.6-Liter For Engines by Sean Hyland
Thats completely false. I built my shortblock for $2100 and had a machine shop do it all for me. I have Manley 18cc .020 platnium series forged pistons, ModMax 4340 forged Hbeam rods w/arp 2000 bolts, kelloge cobra crank, racing bearings, moly file to fit rings, ARP main studs, Cobra High volume oil pump. Now find all of that in one of the MMR blocks add shipping and your looking at paying $3546 for the same thing. And I didnt even have to put it togather and I was able to get it balanced with my crank pully and my flywheel which revs smoother and faster than ifI didnt.

I would get a deeper piston than an 11cc which will put you at about 9.4:1 compression. To run more boost in the future and still run pump gas get it closer to 9.1:1 with around a 15cc piston.

I would keep everything you got in your list but lose the 2 shm books. They are worthless.

I plan to keep the stock lower end, t-45, and rear endas I plan to be in the 450-500HP range.
That's gotta be upgraded

for the average stang owner it is cheaper to just buy the shortblock. you did most of the work yourself in turn saving a crap load of money. theres no way you could buy all the parts, then include labor and your looking at easily the same price. maybe saving a few bucks here and there. mmr sells a couple of shortblocks well under the 3k range. i understand where your coming from but for most people they just dont have the time

hoping and doing, two different things, just trying to make him aware, because maybe the kit was suppossed to, but didnt and he has issues with delivering fuel up top and KABOOM! Just letting him know its out there

I guess if your gonna have someone pulll the motor for you and do all the work of tearing it down and crap then money really isnt anproblem for you. You will be paying thousands more to get a built shortblock in your car.

Only work I did on the shortblock was pull it out of the car, tear it apart, put the block in the truck and drop it off at the machine shop with all the internals. A few weeks later it was done (damn race season) would have only been a week if it wasnt race season.

I'm glad to see this post went a ways. All the info has been great. I think the decision is for me now is whether I want to go for 420-440 or 500+hp. If I go for 420-440 I think I'll go this way:
1. PI heads/Intake
2. Custom Grind Blower Cam
4. Accufab 75mm TB & Plenum
7. V2SQ Supercharger
8. SLP LTs & catted-x mid-pipe

If I go 500+ this is it:
1.Manley Piston/Manley Forged Rod R/A - 11cc dish or 14cc dish
2. PIHeads
3. Custom Grind Blower Cams
4. P-51 Fox Lake intake w/ fuel rails
5. Accufab 75mm TB
6. SLP LT headers
7. SLP catted X-pipe
8. VORTEC SUPERCHARGER V-2 SQ

GhostRider02GT, all the SC kits I have looked at come with injectors and upgraded fuel pump so that is why it isn't listed.

I plan to do any work that is not lower end related. I feel that requires way more experience than top end. Since this will be my first major engine tear down I would probably have a shop do thelower work. Now I just need to be convinced that I should go 500+. If I go for the 420-440 range, what else should I look at doing to a motor that has almost 140k?

Ox, did you get the parts for your shortblock or did the shop get them?
