Yay! No double-gasket, it actually came off when I pulled the filter! Amazing! Sway bar sucks when trying to loosen it on the 4.6 though.

I use Napa brand oil. It's the exactly same as Valvoline. Just a different label. My dad used that on his 91 5.0L from the day he bought it until he sold it last year and never had a leak and it had 190K on it I think? Don't be fooled by name brands. A lot of the timesthe generic oilscome from the exact same manuf plant just with a different label. Do some research and you can prob find which ones.

Does it leak now? If not, then keep using what you're using. I put Mobil "clean 5000" in my car every 6 months (1500-2000 miles),which is a conventional oil. I know full synthetic has its benefits for different vehicles and different owners and driving habits, but to an extent IMO oil is oil, like the other guy said. I've seen motors rack up an a$$load of miles and run beautifully on nothing but your run of the mill conventional oil.

Thanks for all of the input. I was just curious if anyone had experienced any leaks in their mustangs. I've worked on lots of cars for many years, and Mobil-1 just causes some higher mileage engines to leak, generally at the main seals. Didn't know if the 4.6L engine and seal design was tolerant to synthetics at higher miles. I will however very respectfully agree to disagree with those who state that "oil is oil". After working on many different types of engines from cars to heavy earth moving equipment, you can clearly visibly see the difference amongst different oils. Oil is probably oil before it's refined and company specific additives and detergents are added. I think there's a reason you see Mobil-1 as the factory fill in many high end sports cars. Since it costs TWICE as much as regular oil, I usually change it HALF as often, say 6-8k vs 3k with conventional oils.
