Hey what's up Vic ! I got the 1 off ebay , the npi intake with aluminum crossover. I didn't have any real problems taking it apart and putting it back together but I do have a leak and it's runs rough. I guess on monday when I have off again , i'll have to pull it all apart again , re-torque the bolts and pull all the plugs.

Yea thats a big problem I hear with some "aftermarket" aluminum intakes. They are more prone to leaks. The HPS hardballer I got from THR is a one piece aluminum intake setup so its almost leak proof.... As soon as I found that out I sold my Typhoon and got me a Hardballer!

If you drive it off a cliff make sure you get it on tape.
+1

and just dont try to claim insurance after or at least destroy the tape beforehand

ok, today I went out and double checked things to see if I missed anything. I found a spark plug wire loose and a tube I forgot to hook up , now i'm getting a CHECK ENGINE light. Anybody have any ideas of what could be throwing a check engine light after a manifold swap ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. it is idling rough and didn't bother taking it for a drive.

Okay, dont worry about it, I had the same issue w/ my car. First, pull the plugs and clean out an coolant that may have leaked down to the plugs. You may be getting steam from them and causing a rough idle. Now, take the manifold back off. Clean everything up good and clean. You will want new gaskets IMHO. I got Felpro ones for me but, your call. The coolant hoses in the back of the manifold going to and from the heater core may be leaking. Those hoses leaked for me. I would check that out good. I ended up putting silocone on them to seal them up good. Now, install the manifold back and carefully and correctly torque the bolts down in the right sequence. Dont get down, I did this at least three times and now can do an intake manifold on a 4.6L like its my job. Good luck and feel free to pm if you have any other questions.

Yea I would say it was the hoses on the back of the manifold. I'd bet my lunch money on it. When I did the PI swap same thing happened to me. Go through and make sure everything is connected properly.

I am well aware that this is going to sound relatively retarded..lol.. but has anyone taken the stock plastic manifold off and then put it back on?

I dont have the money to replace her now, and as of now, no leaks, but I'm wondering if anyone has had leaking issues with the stock manifold put back on with proper gaskets and such..

thanks

*by the way, I took mine off today with everyone attached, TB, plenum, fuel rails, even the alternator,, it was cool*
