Default Size Difference?

i was just wondering the length difference from 87-93 shocks/struts to the 99-04 shocks/struts. The only reason i ask is because when i ordered my shocks/struts for my 02 the guy told me to buy the 87-93 ones because im putting 4cylinder front springs and cuttin my rears.
