whats your thermostat temp?
Hey guys I know this has been talked about over and over again but I was just wondering what you all are running for temp on your thermostats. I believe the stock is 180 is 160 to cold? And my guage always always always has read high but I've never had any problems. The needle is at the "A" on normal. What does your guage read?

RE: whats your thermostat temp?
I have a 160 t-stat that I need to install because I noticed that my ride gets waaaaaaaay to hot during the summer days.
But since it's cooling down I'm not gonig to worry about it for a while.

i believe the stock thermostat is 192-195 degrees. A 180 would be fine, but i wouldn't go down to 160. I have the stock one and my needle stays between the "R and M" in NORMAL.....sometimes in the summer when it's hot as hell it goes up between the "M and A", but comes back down

I have a 180*. That is as low as you can go with these engines. Running a 180* does nothing for you if you do not tune the fan speeds correctly. If you run a 160* you car will stay in startup mode and dump fuel. If you know anything about the tuning of a EFI there is a seperate tune that the engine runs off of for start up which has increased injector PW. It does the same thing as a choke did on carbed engines. It makes the engine run rich to get it heated up. If it never hits the correct temp you will stay in startup and run rich and be low on power.
Lower temp Tstats is an old trick the carbed guys used and only works on carbed motors. You will get no power gain and no cooling gain with out tuning.

+1 about the fans . check out when they come on w/ the stock tune , low speed fan doesn't turn on until 224*F .
