I have a 180*. That is as low as you can go with these engines. Running a 180* does nothing for you if you do not tune the fan speeds correctly. If you run a 160* you car will stay in startup mode and dump fuel. If you know anything about the tuning of a EFI there is a seperate tune that the engine runs off of for start up which has increased injector PW. It does the same thing as a choke did on carbed engines. It makes the engine run rich to get it heated up. If it never hits the correct temp you will stay in startup and run rich and be low on power.

Lower temp Tstats is an old trick the carbed guys used and only works on carbed motors. You will get no power gain and no cooling gain with out tuning.
Where the heck do you find that in your tunning software? I use SCT and I have never seen fan speed. Your car will run and get hot as it always does. 99+ must be different because I can't imagine where you heard you can change your fan speed and your car would stay in start up mode. start up mode is an old wise tale.

I have a 180 and I didn't need to change anything. Honestly the only reason I did it was because Advance had that Fail safe in stock and not the other. It will not help your cars performance at all.

A low T-stat will not make up for a faulty cooking system.

true &false . there is a seperate table for cold start but it goes stoich at 150*F at any load below .5 or so . that said , there is also a scalar that switches to base fuel table at 180*F . not sure about other programmers but it's standard on all SCT's canned tune's to lower it to 150*F .

+1 about the fans . check out when they come on w/ the stock tune , low speed fan doesn't turn on until 224*F .

edit : you can see the image much better if you click on Attachment .
