Default mac vs flowmaster weld-ins

Hey all, just bought an '03 GT, all bone stock. I don't have lofty modding plans in the immediate future, right now I just want some more sound on a very tight budget. I think I'm just gonna pick up some weld-in muffs for the stock catback. I'm debating whether to get Macs or original Flow 40's. Now I've personally heard both mufflers on a V6 but not on a GT. I know the Macs are deeper and lower-pitched andI like their sound better, but I also want the loudest weld-in muffs I can get, and I'm worried the Macs will be too quiet because they were fairly quiet on the V6 stang I heard them on. Both sound pretty good so I really can't lose with either, if the Flow 40's are much louder than I will get those instead.

What do you guys think? Are the Macs comparable in volume to the Flows?

PS also I need 2 1/4" and offset inlet offset outlet, right? Thanks

Macs and Flows are pretty much the same as far as sound level. I have the Mac catback and love it.

+1

MACs and Flow 40's are almost the same with my preference leaning toward the MACs. They have just a smidge more rumble than the Flows.

Mac's are louder than flows and a little less restrictive. That being said I like the sound of flows better.

I briefly had a set of Flowmaster Delta 40's on my 02GT. I thought they sounded awesome, only small downer is a touch of drone at around 1900 rpm. The new Delta version was supposed to minimize or eliminate that. Wife also drives the car and didn't like the "noise"
Got Magnaflows now, can't even hear the thing running unless it's wide open.
Now I've got a set of factory and Flows lying in my garage collecting dust.

well, I'd go with a full catback over weld ins. I like mac cause it's got a great sound and you can get it stainless too.

I had weld in flows and replaced with mac ss catback not a bad price on these 429 shipped and its full stainless. 3.5" tips will look better than leaving the stock ones and I definitely like the mac exhaust note much better than the flows I had on there.

Thanks for the replies, if the Macs are at least as loud as the Flows I believe I'll go with them. I love the tone in the clips I've heard I just wanted to make sure they'd be loud enough since I've never heard them in person.

Only reason I'm not buying a whole catback right now is, I am REALLY going to try hard to keep this car for a long time (I have a nasty tendency to trade in every couple years... ) and eventually I want to do an all stainless system from the headers on back, but cash is very tight right now, and in stock condition it's just WAY too quiet , so I just want a little more noise for the moment.
