Well,I got a dollar amount for the engine.I dont know how much labor is but they are giving me a check for$3,766.Think this is reasonable?Think this is enough for labor and a low mileage engine?Opinions would be appreciated, thanks

i would build a much nicer engine if i had 4 grand.....do the labor yourself, theres a thread about how to build one its a sticky, and im sure people here would help out...and hell, your brother could help .... mmr shortblock and then get P&P heads and a mean cam....you can still use a lot of stuff off your old engine too

My brother in law told me that it is really really difficult to rebuild one of these engines. That was my first idea,He is a queer he does no hot rod stuff, everything has to be just like the factory,i dont think that i could do it myself

You don't have to rebuild it necessarily. Either by an already assembled short block or you can just buy the parts needed and have a machine shop rebuild it. Then all you would have to do it stuff the new engine back in there.

yea... buy a full built shortblock, then its just as easy as putting yours back together....unless he doesnt know how to build one and is just installing a crate one for you...but in that case, you can get a fully built longblock for around 4-5 i think and just drop the whole thing in in one piece...check out http://www.modularmustangracing.com/ ...if you had a longblock then your brother cant complain about having to build anything

I got an update on this insurance thing.I have'nt heard from my bro in law so i called him up and this was the deal last night. He said that he knows the adjuster and has for quite some time.He told me the ins company is going to pay for a reman engine causse the car has low miles. He also said that the ins company does not want to pay him the 80 bux an hour he wants to put it in.Today i got home and looked online and according to my ins co they sent me out a check for $4,800,and my brother in laws shop for $400, for towing and storage. My ins adjuster's name has changed too ,it was a woman, and all of a sudden its a guy.Anyways,I still have a $500 dudectable, but i am pretty happy with the outcome so far, watcha all think??

I would find a new mechanic. I can rebuild a mod motor in a weekend (providing machine shop isnt busy). Rebuilding a mod motor is no different then rebuilding a pushrod motor. I would find a performance shop and give them the money and you will be much happier with the out come. For $4800 you can have a forged shortblock and buy P&P heads and cams. Why get stock when you dont have to.

Ask your Brother in Law what is so difficult to rebuild on these engines. FYI he is an idiot!!!!!!!!!
Is he the same guy that told you your engine was toast? If so I would take it and have a second opinion
