A sprite bottle full of water. BS unless you drove into a lake there is no way that that much water got into the engine and if it did it would not be in the oil pan. Sounds to me like your brother in law is trying to pull a fast one on you and fruad the ins company.

It is impossible to hydrolock an engine by driving through a puddle with a fenderwell intake. IMPOSSIBLE!!! The water would hit the MAF first and kill the car. You would have to drive into a lake at 6000rpms to hydrolock it. The more I read about the OP and his brother in law makes me glad my wife was an only child.

you can buy forged longblocks for around $3500-4000 or shortblocks for $2500...A mach swap will cost more than that. Ive seen the engines for around $3500 not including the wiring and computer

get away from him! You would be surprised how many times a mechanic will screw the people he knows the most!

Sounds like to me he sees an easy way to get 4500-5000 bucks from you and put a reman stock engine in! Screw that!

A local performance (local for you) should be able to do all the labor + parts and give you at least a H/C engine with a new MMR 600 or even stock shortblock.
