Default Long Block vs Short Block

What exactly is the difference beteween a long block and a short block. i know that the long blocks come fully assembled or what ever and that the short blocks are just the blocks but, what parts come on long blocks that dont come on short blocks?
And if i were to buy a mmr short block, what else would i need to buy and what parts can i re use form my stock block?
And same question as before for the long block.

Longblock comes with heads. If you don't blow the heads on your current block, you will be able to use them.

What is your plan? (new engine, then f/i?)

the short block consist of the block, crank, pistons, rods, and all the support parts. a long block is a short block plus heads, cams, and all the little gizmos that work with them like valves and such. if you buy the short block you will need to buy everything that is needed to turn it into an assembled engine. basically you'll need to buy the parts to make it a long block. then after its a long block get an intake manifold, wiring harness, and timing cover. i believe thats it. unless i forgot something.

personally, im getting just the short block. that way i can get my own heads and cams and not the ones supplied to me. it will end up being less expensive in the long run. if you buy the long block you may not be satisfied with the heads and cams that came with it so you may have just blown an extra $2k - $3k on something your not gonna use. but its all up to you.
