Default exhaust question

does any aftermarket catback system a whole 1 piece? i know my borla was 2 pieces (mufflers and then the tips). and i just recently recieved a magnaflow catback in a trade but it doesnt look like magnaflow. it has ford stampings on it but the owner claimed that he was positive that it was magnaflow and gave me a reason why ford was stamped on it. and now where there is magnaflow on it. and i know stock catbacks have to be cut where it crosses the axle because it is one piece. the catback i recieved is cut also. i am under the impression it is a stock catback because of the exhaust being cut. am i right thinking the magnaflow should be in two pieces and not needing to be cut to get out? i think i got screwed here.

yeah actually,a truemangnaflow exhaust "should" be three pieces. Theres a small piece that connects to the H/X and "C's" over the axel, then theres the muffler/pipe extension to the back of the car, and the third piece is the tips.

If anything, you got a stock GT exhaust w/ magnaflow mufflers welded in... I wana hear this reason why ford stamped it.... thats rediculous.

No, there would a small sound difference between 2.25" and 2.5" piping along with a little better flow. Not to mention the fact that you just got screwed. What size are your tips? They should be 3.5"....and if I'm not mistaken Magnaflow catbacks come with tips that have "Magnaflow" stamped on them.

I too would like to know his reasoning behind the "Ford" being stamped on it....

yea but i mean cant you just take the mufflers off and switch them out? and the pipes and tips would be stock still. i mean i probably did get screwed but couldnt that still be done? and the guy keeps swearin they are magnaflow.

Yes, you can buy Magnaflowmufflers and have them welded in to your stock catback. Just make sure that they're made for 2.25" pipe.

If the mufflers have "Ford" stamped on them, there is absolutly no way they are Magnaflow...look on here and see if the mufflers you have now resemble any mufflers on this site www.magnaflow.com

Was this a "in person" trade or was it over the internet? Is there anyway for you to get us some pics?

hey i found out about this exhaust. it is a stock roush exhaust.and magnaflow manufactures roush exhaust. so magnaflow does make this exhaust. and it comes stock on the roushs. so that why ford is stamped on there
