Default Got a tire question...

I NEED new tires. I have the stock 17x8 wheels.

I wanted to go a little fatter than the pewny 245s so I was looking at some 255-265's.
I've heard people, MANY people, going with 275s with no problem but I don't feel comfortable going that big on a stock wheel unless someone can talk me into it.

If I decide with 255-265s what size would I need...

255/?/17
265/?/17

Anyone have pictures of any of these on 17x8s?

These are what I was looking at...

The 275's aren't worth it, If I remember correctly, it would only be a .5" difference in the footprint. Go with a 265, which you should be perfectly fine with, I think they make some in that size. I don't have any pictures of that one. If you need to look for some, you can go to www.tirerack.com, they have a thing where you can search for all sizes for a certain diameter wheel, should be able to help you out

And if I went with 265's would it be 265/40/17? Looks like that's all discounttire has on ebay. They have a 5% off thing going on right now.

what's the original tire size?

If you have a tuner, that is a fine tire size, if you don't, I think your speedometer might be off by a tiny amount. Like 1 or 2 mph

Yeah I do have a tuner. Tire size?

245/45/17
sidewall = 4.3"
radius = 12.8"
diamete = 25.7
circumference = 80.7
revs/mile = 785

265/40/17
sidewall = 4.2"
radius = 12.7"
diameter = 25.3"
circumference = 79.6
revs/mile = 796

Will a shorter tire and a stock wheel look wierd?

Personally i wouldn't think so, your talking about 1cm, or about .1" overall diameter, thats not even something that you could notice, I think thats about the spacebar on the screen. so from here || is about the difference in height that there is going to be, do you really think you will notice that? Didn't I just read that you got new wheels and tires some time ago?

I think you are thining way to deep into this one!! Like he said 275's would be a waste so just go with some 10.5 inch rims and some 315's for tires that are 315/45/17 for the rear and then go with 9.5 inch rims for the front! 275/45/17. Now thats a good set up!!!

I don't think they make 315/45's, I'm pretty sure it's only 315/35's and 315/40.

With that reasoning, just get the stock ones widened by a machine shop to 13" and get 345/30/18's, now that's some traction

Yay

I don't have money for wheels.
And they need to be the same size all around because rotating is a must for me becuase of all the highway driving I do a week.
