Default Tranny SITUATION!

My T-45 has been rebuilt and ever since the rebuild it gets stuck in reverse. I had it towed back 4 different times and finally I just filed with the better business bureau and got my money back. Anyway, the car still gets stuck in reverse. Now that I've got a procharger sitting in my room on the floor awaiting install I figured it's time to step up to something stronger.

To get to the point...

I just received a check for $700 from the transmission place for the labor since they couldn't fix it. I have another $800 or so laying around. What kind of transmission should I go with? TKO, 3650, T-56? Any other suggestions? What would be your choice? Am I looking at getting a new drive shaft as well? I really need help on this. Thanks!

In my opinion, get a viper spec t56 or a tko. 3650's suck major ***** and wont hold more than 350 fwtq. i would go with the viper t56 because it has the 6th gear for highway and its just a stronger transmission.

damn i hope this doesnt happen to me! Im getting my rebuilt within the next couple of months but im doing the work myself its a t-45. How much would the t56 cost and wat would i need to put it in? Cause right now just 4th pops out sometimes times but reverse is always a pita. its always a pita to get in somtimes i think its in then whn i go to let off the clutch u hear the worst sound ever! Or other times it just wont go in its like theres no reverse at all.

Ouuucchhh.. can't say I've ever had something like that happen, though I wish the BBB would've been nicer to me when friggin Dallas Mustang f'ed up my 3650.. lol Anyway, I've got the TKO-600 and the P1S/C-2 kit and I couldn't be happier with it.. I'd also recommend upgrading your clutch, flywheel and D/S too when you do that, if you can afford it. Cause the procharger will likely snap a stocker D/S at higher boost levels broham, and the stock clutch isn't rated to carry the type of power you'll have with it if you get a good tune done.. The viper spec T-56 is a good tranny too, so it's all in personal preference, though you don't really NEED 6th gear unless you're going to be doing a lot of highway runs and/or road course racing... Good luck broham..

I will be doing a fair amount of traveling, but hopefully I'll have a beater for that soon enough. I've heard good things about the TKO-600, but that T-56 is one expensive sum-a-beach. I was hoping to find a TKO for under $1500, but no such luck yet. Maybe a rebuild...

Yahh.. the T-56 will run you probably between 3-5k or a hair over.. It's one of the best tranny's on the market though. The TKO-600 will take just about as much as you'd want to throw at it though.. Which pro-charger unit do you have? And it might be a little more expensive than 1,500, but you can get a brand new one from both Steeda either/or JEGS for about 1,900 bucks plus shipping.. Keep in mind though that you'll have to at least get a new D/S if not upgraded one, and a new fly wheel, in addition to throw-out bearing, Slip-yoke for the tranny, and new K-member too.

Bang for the buck, both the TKO-500 and 600 are good deals I think. The only way you'd be able to get the T-56 cheaper would be if you had a T-56 core to turn in, which you won't, unless you just have one laying around.. lol So the TKO's are more than likely going to be the less expensive bet for you.. Changing tranny's is kinda expensive period though brudda..
