Definitely go with a set of gears. An intake and a tune does nothing for the 99-04 GT's, but a lot for the 05+ GT's. Throw in a set of 4.10 gears and you will be happy. Make sure you have some good tires too.

i second the gears.you should be able to take the s2000 regardless.especially from a stop.the stang has way more low end torque.but if you really want to garantee the win.a set of gears with traction should do the trick.

So, if I were to get 4.10s what speed would my engine turn at 75 mph on the interstate? I assume that gear installs run what around 4-500 dollars? Any recommendation of gear manufactures and where to get them installed (i.e. Ford Dealer). I am so used to doing all the work on my cars that I don't really know anywhere to go for labor; although I am not sure I want to tear into the rear end that would be a new project.

Get you some 4.10's, made by FRPP, and the Motive Installation kit. Also, you will probably need 3 quarts of gear lube, and a Speed-Cal, which corrects your speed when the gears are installed. Also, get a set of Nitto 555R 275's and blast his *** HARD!

Drag radials are the only thing you need. Then I'd say exhaust.... Exhaust, not for the power gains, but becasue the Mustang at WOT puts fear into the heart of heros and will wet every female panty in ear shot.

Have fun, you're the cool brother.

I felt a big difference in my '00 after i did a cat back and u/d pulleys. after the intake and throttle body not as much, but it pulled smoother. cat backs were 400, pulleys 100, intake and throttle were like 200 total.

its funny you are talking about racing s2000's......I have a black 2001 Mustang GT convertible, with bbk catted x-pipe, flow's, 410's.....so you have an idea. Me and a buddy of mine are rollin back from a party, and its about 4 in the morning, its one of those nice summer nights so Im cruisin with the top down bumpin my music and I see this little asian dude and his g/f pull up in a black s2k also with the top down...we're cruisin side by side, I hit overdrive and he downshifts while flippin me the bird out the top of the car....we are litterally neck and neck he pulls by an inch......we go again this time off a 60-75 roll....the stang pulls hard around 100 and that was all she wrote....there are a lot of in's and out's I don't know if his car was stock or not, and have no clue what would happen off a stop-n-go but on a roll the mustang's V8 should out muscle the inline-4 especially in top-end. I looked up the specs before and the mustang gt to s2000 power to weight ratio is nearly the same....I think he'd take you on 0-60 but you'd smoke him in 1/4 mile....
