Default Random Shaking?

I just got two tires put on the front of my car about a week and a half or two weeks ago. I bought the tires used, but they appear to be in very, very good shape. They are sized 265/40, which is a little odd, I know.

After I got them put on, I moved and drove the car 60 miles and parked it. When I got to my new place, I noticed one of the new tires was about 50% low. It ended up sitting for a week+ while I moved.

I ended up putting two cans of fix a flat in the tire to air it up. The first can didn't even lift the rim off the ground. (I couldn't see or hear any leaks, I checked thoroughly.) The second can filled her right up and I drove it 5+ miles. That was about 3 days ago, it is holding air perfectly.

I noticed the problem when I drove it immediately after putting the fix a flat in. At random intervals, the steering wheel shakes pretty badly. It reminded me of a mild case of the death wobbles (For you Jeepers)

Today I drove it around 5 miles to the dry cleaners and had the same problem. I couldn't recreate the shake, not by turning, accelerating, etc. I'd just be cruising at any given mph and it'd start for a few seconds then stop.

I would expect that if it was a blanancer or something, the shaking would be constant. Plus, the 60+ mile drive to my new place and the drive home from the tire shop when I first had them mounted was fine.

Thoughts?

1st, i'm not a fan of fix a flat. I'd rather take the tire off and take it to a tire shop.

2nd, when was the last time you had your front end aligned?

3rd, are you sure the place that put the tires on, balanced your tires correctly?

Did you put the lug nuts on? [8D]
Mine would sorta shake a little when my lugs were loose.

ive had fix a flat give my car the shakes before. you should try to take the rim off and remove the shrader valve ( inside the valve stem) lay the tire valve stem down and let the access fix a flat drip out, then reinstall the valve and air the tire back up.. mine did that because of too much fix a flat... this helped out alot.

The fix a flat is definitely the problem. I forgot to mention that I put a whole can in a few days earlier. It wasn't enough to lift the rim off the ground so I let it sit for a few days before I went and bought 2 cans.

I just went driving and the shaking isn't random at all, it starts right about 45 mph and gets worse the faster I go, the wheel/tire is out of balance, undoubtedly because of that first can of fix a flat that ended up just settling in the tire.

Since that first can had more than enough time to dry, I doubt it is going to get better by just driving it.

So, it is going to the tire shop I guess. Will they have to take the tire off and scrape the gunk out?

The fix a flat ruined your balance. Since you put the first can in and didn't drive the car around, you have a lump of fix a flat in your tire.

LOL, yes, I realized that as soon as I realized that the shaking was caused by an imbalanced wheel.
