NEED HELP, removing fuel pump
alright so my car wouldnt start this morning and we traced it back to the fule pump. There is power going to the pump but no pressure in the rails. First off how do I remove the fuel lines back there. I have the little plasitc tools that you use on the fuel lines under the hood but they dont seem to do anything. Also how do you actually get the fuel pump out? It seems like you have to spin the inner metal part, but I have been trying to do that for the last hour with no luck?????
Dude, sounds like you're having a problem. My advice would be to find a friend that has some type of mech skills and ask for some help. That will help lower the risk of something bad happening while you're working by yourself
i yanked a fuel pump on my buddies '00. u just need to use the little clips they give u with anew fuel pump to get the compressed spring out er w/e it is. just take your time, and think logically about it.. i got pissed off because it wouldnt come off and had to step back for 5 min then i got it after that lol.

You can get some special tools for real cheap from any local parts store as well, to remove the lines. Its kinda a bitch to get them off, I ended up pulling the lines off at the fuel filter before I even dropped the tank, so I didn't strech the lines.
They can be a real pain, I ended up putting the tool on the line, then setting a pair of pliers flat against the tool (not squeezing it, just had the jaws flat against it) and using the pliers to push on the tool. Work then back and forth and they will come loose).
This would also be a great time for a new fuel filter.
