hey 2kstang...your problem could be with that check engine light. what are the codes? if your car is running rich it could be fighting a stall under braking and cornering. mine did the exact same thing when i was throwing codes for my lt's. they were rich codes. so if your car is running really rough id look into that first. its easy to check to see if your steering shaft is rubbing...just look into the engine compartment and have someone else turn the wheel. but chances are that isnt your problem.

ORIGINAL: defconfire

Or you can just disconnect the motor mounts jack up the engine like 1/2 inch and shim them with about 1/4" of fender washers. it worked for me
+1

shimming the motor mounts should free up some clearance.

well when i did my long tubes, for some reason what used to be a good o2 sensor suddenly went bad when it started throwing a code for that bank running rich or lean i cant remember. my car would run horrible, and usually stall under heavy braking and cornering. hook up your diablo and read the codes if you can and punch them in on the forums to find out what they are. if you do have a bad o2, your stang might be running well below its idle rpm and thus causing your power steering pump to run slower, making it difficult to steer. if you havent shut off your rear o2's with your tuner i'd do that too considering you dont have any cat's.

just have some one turn the wheel all the way in both directions and watch the steering shaft move for both the engine bay and under the car to see if its not binding on anything.

Well do your RPM's drop below idle when you let off the gas while youre braking or turning?

no my idle is fine. when im at a stop light on the brake there's a rumble towards the passenger side front tire. the rumble only happens when its on drive. when im on park or other gear on the break its normal (no rumble)

I dunno dude...if you had them done at a shop, i'd go back to them and have them look into it. If you did it yourself then justkeep your eyes and ears open, keep the radio off so you can hear any little thing and crawl underneath to see if you can find anything. Luckily the Air Force has great accomidations when it comes to hobbies...I was able to rent a lift on base for about $4.50 an hour and any tool you can imagine at your disposal so i did mine myself in about 8 hours, but then again any problems that came along after the install i had to take care of myself.
