General Modifications
Okay I have a 2001 Gt. It has 69000 miles and I want to do some modifications to gain horsepower. The only mod is a BBK cold air intake. I dont know too much about new vehicles, never owned anything newer than a 70...haha. Anyways, Imnot too sure what mods I want to do, not a bigNO2 fan. So I guess the question would be what performance partswould be worth putting on atthis mileage? Would it be worthmodifying the vehicle at this mileage? I was thinking I would add an exhaust, an intake manifold, a short shifter, fuel rails, and beter pulleys.....what do you guys think? Any other ideas......Imostly drive this car around the streets, but I still want to be able to cruise to the beach without having to fill up 3 times on the way....THX for the help!
If the motor is in good shape, i don't see why you couldn't throw a few mods on it. It's your car so do what you like. Now, on that note. As I look at your name, I have to tell you this. I regards to your questions asked above. You could be "Pressing Your Luck", and you may end up with a "Whammy".

Whammy

so bro, had to do it!

69k isn't a lot of miles like on older cars, if the motor is in good shape. exhaust will get you a good sound, but with headers, midpipe, and catback you will get maybe 25-30 rwhp. I would do gears first, i like 3.73s but most on here like 4.10s, they are reasonable and give you anoticable feel, although no more power.
69K miles you really aren't anywhere close to too many miles.
I have 130k miles on my motor right now and I'm doing a stage 2 head/cam/intake manifold swap, long tube headers, electric cutouts, shorty midpipe, walbro fuel pump, etc. etc.... and I'm still spraying a 100 shot of nitrous.
Read around and you will get a lot of info, but back to the original question... yes it is still worth it. Get you a catback for a good sound and to free up a few ponies, get a new midpipe, O/R (off-road)preferably if youre state doesnt do emission checks... If I were you I would do Longtube headers, shorty O/R midpipe, and catback all at the same time... Underdrive pulleys will free you up a few. Take a look at a decent intake wether it be CAI (cold air intake) or RAI (ram air intake) I have the JLT RAI. Then you might want to take a look at a new throttle body (75mm) and a upper plenum... I would look at some gears after that and maybe a handheld tuner.

I'm guessing your a 60's/70's chevy/ford musclecar kind of guy from your post so just know that the Mod engine you have in your car doesn't respond like the motors from those eras!

1. Gears
