Default Basic advice needed guys please

Looking to buy my first Mustang. I`m not too clued up on the whole engine spec thing. I can buy a 5.0ltr for slightly less than a 4.6 maybe a year or 2 apart. Condition varies but they`re usually clean as they`re all imported from `dry` countries [sm=smiley19.gif]. Whats the story with the new engine? Its it much better than the old 5.0? I won`t be upgrading guys just looking to buy a Mustang and run it standard.I live in Scotland , fuel is $11 a gallon so it has to be a V8 so theres not many around. Well, I`ve only ever saw one about 3 years ago, .
I`ll be travelling to England to purchase so it has to be the right decision. I`ll go and look at a few but need to know whether it should be a 4.6 or a 5.0.
Any advice would be great. [sm=thanx.gif]

Go with the 4.6, it will be slightly better on gas and more dependable. What are the mileage on both of the cars? Beware that in stock form, both cars are severely under-powered.

$11 A GALLON?!?! Holy gaspumpraping batman!

Yes £1.30 ($2.60) a litre, and it`s going up. Anyway. Theres a lot od 5.0 ltr cars 1994s and 1995s with 20k miles or there abouts, the 4.6s have double but still not a lot for the age. The can be similar priced. I know they`re underpowered but I still like them. I don`t plan to upgrade the engine really, it`s just a weekend car.
Is relaiabilty nomally a problem on these things? I had a 400hp Sierra Cosworth that was very dependable. I just fancy a V8. I`ve never had one so why not the Mustang? I think they`re fantastic sounding cars.

if you are going to buy like a 94-98 i would buy the 5.0, the 4.6's were the most underpowered mustangs from 96-98 so a 94-95 5.0 is what i would get

My main car is a Jeep, [sm=americanasmiley.gif]I`ve had BMWs Audis, a Saab etc. They`re all good cars. I just like a change. If everybody liked the same thing it wouldn`t much of a place eh?

you should get a 99 - 04. they are 4.6's and come with more hp than any of the others....and looks waaaay better as well....

not sure why others are suggesting differently.

99-04 is where its at.

if he can find all of the other body styles/years im quite sure he could also find 99-04.

bigkeeko.....if there are 99 - 04's out there....look into/test drive one of those first before you go visit the even older, less powerful mustangs.
