Default Stall converter ?

i was reading up on stall converters a little while ago and was thinking of maybe purchasing one. ive got a few questions about them... can you put one on a basically stock mustang (CAI, catback)? Which name brand is recommended? i know its like "going to a doctor" to figure out what one to get but i will be driving on country backroads. maybe on the highway once a week or once every 2 weeks. im not really ever going to go to the track (maybe once). i just maybe wanted it so when im at a traffic light i could beat a stick mustang or other car. or am i leaning towards gears?

sorry for long post[&:]
