Is there a performance advantage of having true dual exhaust over adual rear exit exhaust system which is 2 pipes coming from a single one just in case no one knows

yes there is.

Camaro Z28s and SS's have a Y pipe that goes into a 1 in 2 out muffler (if its chambered) or a 1 in 1 out with a y pipe for a bullet or glasspack type muffler.

Alot of guys with z28s, ss's, t/a's, ws6's and such go to true dual because it aloows for better exhaust flow. plus its louder

You should get the ecu reprogrammed, too, if going from a factory single muffler to a true dual setup. The stock ecu is programmed to see the exhaust flow of the single muffler. All of a sudden reading double the exhaust flow can cause some performance drops. At least, that's what the flowmaster website ruffly states.

well i depends...

if I were to put a full 3' exhaust on my car, itd be a turd. I wouldnt have any backpressure because im not generating enough power...

thats why most aftermarket exhaust for 2vs go from the stock 2.25' to 2.5'.

I agree with the tune. thats a given, but if you put a 2.5' true dual set up on an LS1 F body, its going to be freakin bad. Loud, mean, and quite a bit of power gained.

I have some confusion on Exhaust thats why i'm leavin it for last, i want alow pricedexhaust kit that is a full exhaust kit, preferably flowmaster, i don't know the price of the regular one or the dual ehaust. I would like to know both even though the dual will probably be more expensive.
I basically want to buy onebig kit full exhaustthatso i won't have to deal with exhaust again. Does anyone know of such a kit that exists for a 2001-4 gt. That is decent. Preferably one of the large and well known companies

How in the f*ck did this end up being a thread about F bodys?! [:'(]

OP, your not gonna get a single in/ dual out type set up on a mustang with out spending stupid amounts of money for labor, even then, im not sure that it would be possible.

Therefore, dual exhaust is your only option. If you like the sound of Flowmaster then buy them, if your undecided then go to youtube and listen to some clips. Not exactly sure what you mean by "full exhaust" but I'll assume you mean headers/midpipe/catback. Headers are gonna cost a retarded amount of money to have them installed. Unless you plan on installing them yourself, then just forget about those for now.

As for the midpipe, that is another thing that your gonna have to go to youtube and listen to. Midpipe can be a H-pipe or X-pipe. Catted or O/R (Off Road/ no cats) You can also get a Pro chamber which only comes in O/R.

Bottom line man, there is no "set" exhaust package. Your gonna have to listen too a bunch of exhausts and figure out what set-up you like the best.

to the OP, Pypes is a pretty good name brand and they have exhaust packages for our cars. they might not have one with longtubes right now, but they probably will sometime soon. but they have their x pipe and catback combo for our cars and its all stainless steel which means no rust for very cheap. look into that. Flowmaster only has catback exhaust and you would have to go to another company for headers and a midpipe. but there are a lot of different exhaust companies that are very well known, well backed companies. go to youtube and search mustang exhausts and pick one you like.

all GT's do come with true dual exhauset why are we even talking about it in a 4.6 section? if you have a v6, that has nothing to do with 4.6 tech, and if you have a GT, you already have true duals so don't worry about it...
