Ok so Ever since I got my new clutch installed there has been a high pitched ticking noise (not very loud) coming from the clutch and it goes away when my foot rests on the clutch. Well i wastold by numerous ppl on here that it was the throw out bearing and so I brought it back to the shop and the guy said it was nothing that i should'nt worry. Well i was in traffic yesterday and all of the sudden an extremly loud ticking noise was coming from the same area. Sounded kida like a playing card on a bicycle wheel only louder... it also goes away when the clutch has pressure on it and gets faster as the rpm's rise. So my quiestion is if this sounds like a throwout bearing and if it is, would the installer be at fault? (installed about 3 months ago, 2,000 miles and have brought the car 3-4 times to him about weird noises during that time). Any help is appreciated!!!

 

I'm not sure what that is. My throwout bearing is going out on me but it's more of a whining noise and not so much a ticking. As I recall I think there was a post in the stickies that had something to do with stoping the ticking noises but I don't know if that's the same problem you're having or not. Good luck with that.

OP, is there any way that you can get a video w/sound? That would help us in determining the problem.

 

No i can't get a clip b/c its already at the shop. I am pretty sure that it;s the throw out bearing but i don't want this mechanic to lie to me and say it was something different so i will have to pay him. But like I said it is coming from the transmission, and is an EXTREAMLY loud tapping noise that increses as the rpm's increase, i just cant afford for this guy to give me some bs about it was something else... anyone know what this is???
