Default Steeda Intake (Dyno 7-10hp???)

Ok so I was thinking about getting this intake, don't look at the price because I am getting it for about half that. It says dyno's 7-10 hp do they mean to the wheels or at the crank? What do you guys think good product ?

They mean crank. It might net you 1 whp, thats if you have the other supporting mods... plenum and throttle body. They sure do look good under the hood though.

not trying to argue...only offering my 2cents/humble opinion..

if you are getting it for cheap as hell, then i'd say go for it!! cause here is the thing....just using some simple math....lets say that the intake only gets you 8hp at the crank. ok on a calculator....take 8 minus 15 then hit the % button (we will use 15% drivetrain loss, although i think its more like 13%?) and then hit the = button...and this gives you 6.8hp to the wheels.

now 5 to 6 horses isnt a huge gain.....obviously its not going to be like slapping a supercharger on there or a 150 shot of nitrous....but bolt on for bolt on, every little bit adds up.

wow...looks like you have never been to a dyno. and who taught you this basic math to calculate horsepower? because with your idiotic numbers that will net around 12-15hp to the crank. A lot more than what steeda is claiming. A CAI will only see huge gains on a forced induction car (turbo/supercharger) you want to buy it for looks go ahead. But you can get gears or a tune for better bang for the buck

well then get a throttlebody and plenum, or for less than the price of the intake, get Pullies. They cost less and make more diffrence than the intake.
Eventually, you'll get the intake..no way around it. The stock system will bug the crap outta you, even though it does the job just fine.. Either that or it's OCD kickin in

You use a CAI on a supercharger?

On my 03 Lightning I did and obviously gained some using the butt dyno. But other than hearing the blower being louder i dont think it helped that much. But.... My 08 EVO I gained 16whp on the dyno. Now what kind of gains can you achieve on a NA 2V? Not much...

true i've never been to a dyno....but that doesnt stop the fact that drive train loss is usally 13-15% from crank horsepower....

in other words....a 99-04 GT comes stock with 260hp to the crank. take 260 minus 15% gives you roughly 221hp to the wheels...which is what our cars come stock with. this is common knowledge and nothing new around here.

you should really take your 6 or 7 posts to some other site, where no one knows what they are talking about....because obviously here its the opposite, and you are coming across as a tard. blatanly trying to argue and ruin this poor guys thread/question.
