TKO 600 ?
i am about to purchase a TKO 600 for my 98GT, i heard they are hard to shift but a pro 5.0 or steeda shifter will fix that. i also read that people have been having problems with them getting stuck in a gear while driving? is there a permanent fix fot this? the guy im buying it off of said his got stuck in 4th gear and when he took it apart to fix he moved the threads down a little so it would not go back so far in 4th and get stuck, is this how they get fixed permantly? any help is appreciated, thanks
I just went through this whole deal with my TKO 500. All of my shift pads were broken because of the shift fingers not engaging correctly! To make a long story short, Tremec is aware of this and may help you out but give Bob Hanlon a call (Hanlon Motorsports) and he can advise you what to do. He got mine in good shape and no, it has nothing to do with aftermarket shifters trust me!
have you looked at the TKO thread in the tech stickys section? the 1st gear in the 600 is not optimised for drag racing, its longer than the 500/stock tranmission in our cars.
buy a new 500 and you should not be having these problems anyway, as at least in my case and most others it has been fixed by tremec now.
