Short Throw Problems
Ok so i bought this car with the short throw already in it. Now in my '03 GT the stock shifter was SOOO much easier to shift.
So i dunno if this short throw needs to be adjusted or something but i assumed going from stock to that it would be smoother/easier. I mean i have yet to successfully get it into second at high RPM. And im definitely not new at the racing scene.
It kinda feels like it catches up on something just moving it from left to right in neutral. And getting it into gear is a little more difficult than i would expect it to be.
So if you guys have any suggestions that would be great. Thanx

or probably a tri ax.........................lol J/K too. you suckahs shall never know what i have Muahahahahahahaha
A short-throw shifter (any STS that really decreases the throw) increases the amount effort required to move the lever between gears--this is just fundamental mechanical principle. Since to amount of force and motion required to actually change gears (in the tranny) remain constant the only way to shorten the "throw" is to shorten the "top" part of the lever (above the fulcrum) and/or raise the fulcrum and lengthen the "bottom" part of the lever.
Most aftermarket STS' do both, thus decrease the leverage as compared to the OEM shifter. Given a fixed force and required motion on one end of a lever, decreasing the leverage will always decrease motion and increase required force on the other end of the lever--gotta happen!
In short (no pun intended) aftermarket short throw shifters are not in any way about making shifting smoother or easier, just making it faster...
