im going sct 4 bank chip as well when the time and funds permit. i like th idea of switching tunes when need be "on the fly"

i already have the chip, diablo handheld and a sct xcal2 handheld(locked to another car)

so i use the handhelds for codes, which come in very handy at time the car is throwing a hissy fit lol

The only upside of a programmer is reading codes unless you tune the car yourself. If you get a dyno tune the chip is great and way cheaper than a programmer. But with that being said a chip or a programmer with a random tune from a website you shouldnt expect any good gains, a dyno tune is where the power is at its better than some website guessing what changes should be made.

i meat to say im getting mine dynotuned when time and finds permit. my diablo was included in the deal when i bought my car. that being said i began driving it with a "93" tune on it....put it back to stock for winter and i cant tell a diff in driving, makes me thing a website tune is a waste.

i have talked to a tune who deals mostly in mustangs and also had one of his own (new edge) and said all cars are different. some may see 5-7 hp some may see 7-10 hp assuming the mods are the same. if i was to guess i would say at least +5 hp

I'm running the SCT four bank chip right now and I'm very happy with it. I picked it up cheap from a local guy, Bamachips and Brenspeed wouldn't do a tune unless I bought a chip from them so I got in touch with American Muscle. Just got the chip back last week and I'm really impressed by how hard the car pulls througout the entire power band and thats with just the mods in my sig. From what I've learned a canned tune works just fine if you have the minor bolt ons and you won't really benifit that much from a dyno tune maybe a 3-5 HP difference until you do F/I or cams. I don't know 3-5 isn't a big enough difference for me to drop 350 to get my car on the dyno. Switching tunes on the fly is awsome especially since I'm gonna be running nitrous this summer. The only part that sucks is mailing the chip in to get it reburnt whenever you get a new mod. If you have a good Idea what your going to get in the future there are 3 Slots you can burn tunes on so you can be prepared for an O/R X, Gears, Nitrous ect... Like the other guys said you won't benifit alot until you've done quite a few mods... Hope this helps you a little OP good luck with your decision!

wait so you bought a chip private party and sent it to AM or you bought a pretuned chip from AM?

well the $350 is not set in stone for a dyno tune. mine is a DD and im not going F/I ANYTIME soon if ever so a dynotuned chip is perfect or me.

i will get a dyno tune becasue anything else to me is pointless. you will never get a better tune than a dyno tune. im going to a tuner who can do all 3 tunes (as well as stock one on the chip) and dyno time for $200. a ***** out tune, economy tune, valet tune, and putting stock one on there.

Was it a 91 or 93 octane tune?

The OEM 87 octane tune is very conservative--any even remotely compentent custom tune should have gained 5-7HP peak, with as much as 12-15HP in the mid-range (2500 tom 4500 rpm or so)...
it was on california's top gas which is 91, but the chip leaned out the car alot and the line over stock ecu and their 91 octane performance tune was almost exactly the same line, i have the paper and can upload it if you would like to see it, im just trying to inform people about something that has personally happened to me and my car. i like how all you guys believe im wrong and that you guys know more when i personally have proof and knowledge about my own car. and under my normal driving conditions on 87 i only gained .5 a mpg, i dont mean do be a punk or anything im just trying to help you guys out and insist you do more research on "custom" pre tuned chips
