Default Gears and install questions

I have a 98 gt that i plan on putting 4.10's in. Right now i tend to drive 60% city 40 highway. I may be getting a new job that would require a commute to trenton everyday doing about 65-70.

Would a constant 2500-3000 rpm range affect the motors reliability in any way?

Also spec clutches told me that a steeper gear would probably help the clutch chatter that i am getting (3200 miles on clutch). However, with brand new u joint's there is a nice amount of play in rear tires when pumpkin is jacked up in the air. Maybe a bearing is worn in the rear causing a clutch chatter problem? It really feels like the chatter is coming from the rear tires.

Also I am thinking about having Radical Racing in ATCO NJ do the install of brand new frpp gears that i can get off craigslist and the complete bearing kit. They want 300 for the labor alone. Anyone have experience with them and their services?

First off, the rear bearings having nothing to do with clutch chatter! ...why would you put a spec clutch in a somewhat stock car? I would have gone with a CF dual friction clutch...

As far as the tires moving when the "pumpkin is jacked up", thats called back lash...normal...sounds like you mike be having some issues with wheel hoop with this cold weater or maybe the flywheel (clutch chatter)...$300 sounds like a normal $$$ for a gear install...I'd go with 3.73's if your going to travel a lot!

i really wish i did more research on spec clutch. I figured their stage 1 was close to oem and it was on american muscles site, so i just bought it. the chatter is going away slowly. But yes i wish i would have went with centerforce. i did have some serious wheel hop so i put the quad shocks back on and that has helped.

Do 4.10s and dont look back...

The clutch chatter is from your clutch...period. Every spec clutch I've driven has done it, some worse than others. Thats why I wont buy one
