Default Which lowering springs?

I need some help deciding which springs to go with for my 04 GT as it would be great to remove all that excessive wheelwell clearance. Also, would I need new CC plates? I know it would be a good idea but can I get an allignment without them? it would be nice to save the money for now and I can always go for them later. I am not planning on a huge drop.

I need the springs to fit several criteria:

1. I would like an even drop and don't really want to go over 1.5"

2. Be good for drag racing

3. Work well with my stock struts/shocks as well as aftermarket ones

4. Give me enough clearance if I later step up to 18" rims or 15" prostars with thick tires (whatever the standard size for 15" prostars would be).

What do you guys think? I was looking at the Eibach pro-kit as well as the FRPP F springs because they are appearently like the B springs except for a more even/lower drop and the B springs are supposedly like the C springs except are progressive lol.

Thanks,
Brandon

+1

also, if you happen to step up to 18 inch rims, the overall diameter of the tire wont increase, the rim gets wider and the sidewall of the tire gets thinner

progressive spring rates are better then specific spring rates. I've had both kinda, not on this car, but I'm sure its the same story. progressive gives you a nice ride, but when you handle a corner its stiff, while the specific rates are generally either really stiff all the time or soft... I've had Eibach before, no complaints, not sure about the other brands, i hear good things but no personal experience.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah I want progressive ones. THe H&R race springs seem to give a bit less of a drop than the Super Sports but on AM it says they aren't progressive....is that true?

The best spring that would fit all those criteria are the steeda sports, they are a linear in the front and progressive in the back for launches. They lower your car about 1-1.5" and you can use stock shocks/struts.

Steeda sports sound like a good idea. When you mean linear in the front do you mean like constant rate?

Does anyone know if I need new CC plates?

CC plates are need when the drop is greater than 1.5" IIRC.

Some shops will try to do the alignment knowing it wont work right, but still charge you and tell you that you need them. So look around for some trustworthy shops in your area.

H&R will give you hell of a drop, my friend put them on his vert, it looks nice but he scratches every where. I have Eibach pro kit gives about 1.5" drop. handles nice, and stiff.
