Accel COPs, long term report...
In November of 2007 I bought a NIB set of Accel COPs at a swap meet in Daytona, it was toward the end of the day and I got the set of 8, brand new, for $100--good thing...
About 8 weeks ago (some 30k miles later) I drove to my office (about 39 miles) and some 5 miles or so out the engine was running noticeably rough; on the way home it got progressively worse. Got home and yanked the COPs and plugs (which all looked OK), then bending to complete paranoia I did a compression check--also OK.
OK, let's check the COPs and bingo--#7 had a secondary resistance of 1.9kΩ--should be 6kΩ to 8kΩ--it was obviously shorted. Being a pack rat I got one of the OEM coils off the shelf and all was good with the world--until...
3 weeks ago I was coming home and about 25 miles away the engine started running rough. Being one who learns from their mistakes I yanked the remaining Accel COPs and sure enough the #3 had a secondary resistance of 2.3kΩ. In goes another OEM unit.
Well, today as I pulled in to my space at the office I noticed the same characteristic rough idle and on the way home along came the lumpy acceleration and by the time I got home a full-fledged skip. It was #5 this time, 1.2kΩ...
Three down in eight weeks with less than 40k miles on 'em. Now there are eight OEM coils sitting on top of the engine (with 35k on them), they are not the pretty yellow color but they work quite nicely.
The placebo effect and butt-dyno tell me they work better, although that might be real because I suspect if I had left the remaining five Accel COPs in there I'd have had them all swapped out in another few weeks anyway...
YMMV, Caveat Emptor.

Thanks for the info.
I almost got a set of those last year, but I opted to get a set of JEGs racing COP's instead after my OEMs started acting up.

As far as I have been able to determine, all of the OEM looking aftermarket COPs are made by this manufacturer, Micro-Tech (they advertise that they make Granatelli's).
The Accel's I have show a code number "MT-" moulded in to the case.

I've been running the MSD ones for more than a year now, with absolutely ZERO issues at all. granted, I swapped out when mine started going bad, but still, a year and 20k miles, most race orriented, and no failures, or even issues? That's pretty damn good.
