please look around the site before posting a question that is put up everyday. There is a link in my sig that will answer a lot of your questions. Use that first, then ask more questions if you need to, I/we all will be happy to help.
BTW NOS is a company, nitrous would be the better term to go with.
EDIT: And please resize the picture in your sig or go over to the S197 section.

and if you use dr's youll snap your axels! hope you dont plan on goin to the track! lol... you are playing a game of chance by not doing the axels, a chance im not gonna take. for normal driving just gears are fine. if you plan on going to the track, even casually, on dr's, gotta do the axels, or youll be callin in a flatbed to get home =[ i had a whole thread about this like a week ago, lol, ill find it tomorrow

anyway, I agree with the other guys- swapping out gears will give you the much better acceleration- particularly off the line. 4.10s may be a bit steep though, as your cruising RPM will be fairly high. 3.73 is the highest I would go with a daily driven street car. of course, this also depends on what ratio you already have. the bigger the difference, the more you will feel it.

Plenty of people on here have reported getting gas mileage just as good, some better, with 4.10s over stock. It's all how you drive it, but alot of people will tell you they've gone with 3.73s only to wish they had gotten 4.10s.

And, you cannot argue the power needed VS fuel used theory because the car was already producing sufficient power before the gear swap.
Top Gear did a fuel mileage comparison a while back between a Toyota Prius and a BMW M3 (V8). The M3 averaged BETTER mileage than the Prius. This is because the Prius required more work from the engine to reach highway speeds. The BMW had plenty of power and did not require much throttle at all. So I understand your point, but it does apply to our Mustang. This is also why the new 2010 GT500 now uses 3.55 gears- better mileage.
